तू तेरा देख

हातचं सोडून पळत्याच्या; काखेत कळसा गावाला वळसा; या आणि अशा अनेक म्हणी ऐकत आलोय. त्याचा अर्थ आजकाल माणसांच्या वागण्यातून पदोपदी उमगत राहतो. माणसं स्वत:चं सुख दुस-याशी तुलना करून मोजतात. स्वार्थी तर असतातच; परंतु दुस-याच्या आयुष्यात त्यांना जास्त रस असतो. आपण कोण आहोत, आपल्याकडे काय आहे, आपली स्वप्न काय आहेत, आपल्या आकांक्षा काय आहेत, या सगळ्यापेक्षा दुसरा काय करतो, त्याच्याकडे काय आहे, त्याच्याबाबतीत काय घडतंय, याचं चिंतन जास्त करतात. या चिंतनातून मग चढाओढ, असूया, द्वेश, मत्सर, गर्व आणि अशी निरनिराळी मूल्य माणसं अंगी बाणवत जातात.

का माणसं आत्मचिंतनात सुख शोधू शकत नाहीत? का दुस-याचं सुख हे आपल्या सुखाचं मापक असावं लागतं? संतांनी नेमकं हेच लोकांना सांगण्याचा प्रयत्न केला. त्यापैकी किती कळलं, किती वळलं हे संतच जाणोत.

रस्त्यावरून, विशेषत: महामार्गावरून जाताना ट्रक्स लॉरीज च्या मागे जे साहित्य, जी सुवचनं लिहिलेली असतात त्यापैकी माझं आवडतं सुवचन नेमकं हेच सुचवतं.

Bad Luck

I was watching someone clean up his office desktop the other day. There were several icons scattered all over the screen. He was checking every file and moving it to the appropriate folder on his hard drive. After a while there were certain files left which I guess he could not move it to any specific folder. He then made a folder named 'Others' and moved all of those files into it. Though he had not find the right group to associate a few files to; his desktop was now; clean.

Isn't it so similar to how we react to situations in life? More often than not, we find ourselves in a situation where we have no option but to just blame it on our luck. Some do it expressly, while for some it is implied. But does it help? I think yes. It does. It does help to blame it on luck. It clears our mind just like the guy cleared his desktop. It makes our mind a clean slate again; helps us 'see' ahead in life. If you have not cleared your mind's desktop yet; you should do it soon. And you should really have this 'Others' folder there to keep the things which you can blame on nothing but 'Bad Luck'. Because,

'Sometimes, it really feels 'Good' to just say 'Bad Luck'; and move on.'

भारताचं खरं दुर्दैव

नुकत्याच एका ऐतिहासिक ठिकाणाला दिलेल्या भेटीत पुन्हा एकदा लोकांच्या भावनाहीनतेचं, चंगळवादाचं, मगरुरीचं, अहंकाराचं प्रदर्शन बघायला मिळालं. तसं ते वाण्याकडून चार साबण आणायला गेलो तरीही बघायला मिळतं; पण अशा विशेष ठिकाणी, किंवा काही विशेष सण-समारंभात ते जरा ‘विशेष’ असतं. रस्त्यावर गाडी चालवताना तर आपण जगाचे राजे हा भाव तनामनात घेऊन लोकं वावरतात. म्हणजे सांगायचंच झालं, तर त्यांच्या वाटेमधे साधं पाखरू जरी आलं तरी त्याची आई-बहीण काढतात. 

आता रांग आहे, म्हणजे आपल्या पुढे लोकं असू शकतात. पण आपण जगाचे राजे म्हटल्यावर आपल्या मधे कुणी येऊच कसा शकतो? मग अरेरावी करणे; चार शिव्या देणे किंवा ज्याचं आपल्याला बाळकडू मिळालंय तो भ्रष्टाचार करणे (संबंधित व्यक्तीस चार पैसे टेकवावेत, की... हं !) हे बघायला मिळतं. पैसे ही कमवण्याची, साठवण्याची, (देण्याची वगैरे सोडाच) गोष्ट नसून ती दाखवण्याची गोष्ट आहे; हे इथलं तत्वज्ञान आहे.

हा विषय मोठा आहे; पण थोडक्यात कसं आहे, की वर नमूद केल्याप्रमाणे जे वागतात, त्यांना ते चूक आहे हे कळण्याची बुद्धी नसते, आणि ज्यांना ते चूक आहे के कळण्याची बुद्धी असते, त्यांना तसं वागवणा-यांना थांबवणं शक्य नसतं.भारत म्हणूनच मागे आहे आणि सदैव राहील.

आपली लाल

कोकणस्थ पिक्चर आला. त्याची चांगली वाईट परिक्षणं ऐकली, वाचली. एकूणच कोकणस्थांचं नाव घेऊन त्याभोवती हवी ती कथा बांधली गेली आहे, असं जाणवलं. फेसबुकावर कम्युनिटी यायला लागल्या कोकणस्थांचं नाव खराब करणा-या. एकूणच कोकणस्थ चर्चेत आले. तसं आपल्या समाजाला ट्रेंड फॉलो करायचं चांगलं माहिती आहे... सद्ध्या कोकणस्थ ट्रेंड मधे आहेत असं म्हणायचं.
मग समाजातले बाकी वर्ग कसे मागे रहावेत? तेही उद्योग करायला लागतील, आमचा समाज असा, आमचा समाज तसा. 'मराठा' असं मोठ्ठ्या अक्षरात लिहिलेला टीशर्ट घालून मी बघितलं परवा एकाला. हसू आलं. इंग्रज खूप हुशार होते. त्यांनी समाजाची ही वर्गवार, जातिवार रचना बघितली आणि तेंव्हापासून रुजलेल्या ईर्शा, चढाओढ, दुजाभाव या बीजांना व्यवस्थित खतपाणी घातलं. 

 आजही तो मळा सुपीक आहे. आरक्षणं, आंदोलनं, हक्कांची लढाई अशी रसाळ फळं त्या मळ्यात पिकतायत. अशिक्षित मंडाळी सोडा, शिक्षित लोकांचीही वैचारिक पातळी अजून भुईतच आहे.
खरं तर,
'भारतीय समाजाला दोनच गोष्टी येतात. आपली 'लाल' करणं, किंवा दुस-याचं 'काळं' करणं.'

प्रेम - भक्ती

प्रेम आणि भक्ती या दोन गोष्टीत नेहमीच गल्लत केली जाते. या दोन गोष्टी नेहमीच भिन्न मानल्या गेल्या आहेत. पण गोष्टी भिन्न असल्या म्हणजे त्यांमध्ये नातं, संदर्भ यांचा अभाव असतो असं नाही. प्रेम आणि भक्ती या अशाच गोष्टी आहेत, की ज्या भिन्न असूनही संबंधित आहेत.

संतांनी केलेली भक्ती ही आदर्श भक्ती मानली जाते. याचं कारण की ती भक्तीच्या हद्दीबाहेरची भक्ती होती. परम भक्ती होती. ती भक्ती प्रेमरूप भक्ती होती. मीरेने केलेलं प्रेम हे आदर्श प्रेम मानलं जातं. मीरेचं प्रेम हे अत्युच्च प्रतीचं प्रेम होतं. निर्मळतेचा कळस गाठलेलं प्रेम होतं. मीरेचं प्रेम हे भक्तीरूप प्रेम होतं.

नेमका हाच प्रेम आणि भक्ती या गोष्टींमधला दुवा आहे. दोन गोष्टींचा एकमेकांशी दृढ संबंध आहे. जणु एकाच डोंगराची दोन शिखरं आहेत, प्रेम आणि भक्ती. धाग्याचं एक टोक जर भक्ती असेल तर त्याच धाग्याचं दुसरं टोक प्रेम आहे. आणि तो धागा म्हणजे सात्विकता.

Rare is Special

When mobile was invented, it couldn't fit in our hands. As technology grew, mobiles shrunk. When everyone rode bicycle, having a car was considered great. Everyone has a car today, but cycling from home to office is said to be special. When everyone used goods made in own country, use of Imported goods was labeled as 'High Class'. Today, when 80% of the goods in the market are imported, using goods made in own country is said to be 'Premium'. Almost everyone ate home-made food earlier; and eating out was for the wealthy. Now everyone eats out frequently, and the taste of home-made food, is something that people value.

Minority is always more special than majority. Scarcity is always on priority. The simple equation is that

Sustainability

Three main qualities of data or information that are critical, are Availability, Reliability, and Relevance. Of course there are other vital characteristics of good information but these are very important. When these characteristics are consistently met, the information becomes Sustainable.

For the non-living things 'Sustainability' or 'Durability' is decreasing in it's importance. People change cars every two years, laptops every year, mobile phones every six months, and clothes every two months. But 'Sustainability' is becoming increasingly important for people; for humans. One has to be sustainable to be able to survive. One has to be ahead of time and ready for the next change. But 'Sustainability' for humans is too dynamic of a concept to be measured in a particular set of criteria. It cannot be just strength, it cannot be intelligence, it cannot be luck either. It is about all this and much more. Precisely,

Sustainability = Capability > Possibility

If no one is looking at you

Our actions depend on our thoughts. While that being said to be true on most of the occasions, it is also true that our actions depend on people's actions and reactions. A simple scenario is when people are watching you. It is then that you become conscious of your actions. Inversely, you either feel free or left out, if no one cares.

This is what mostly happens but it surely isn't the ideal way to respond. Watching ourselves is more important than anything else. You can safely ignore the surroundings if you are watching yourself. Still the ideal way to think; and a general principle that one should embed in his/her thoughts I feel, is that,

If everyone is looking at you, understand, that you are better. If no one is looking at you, understand, that you are unique.

लेव्हल

टीव्ही वर; म्हणजे दूरदर्शन वाहिनीवर एक जाहिरात येते, प्रबोधनपर. त्यात एक कुत्रा असतो जो माणसांसाठीचा रस्ता ओलांडण्याचा सिग्नल हिरवा होईपर्यंत वाट बघून मग रस्ता ओलांडतो; आणि बाकी अनेक व्यक्ती ज्या हे असलं काहीही न करता रस्ता दिसेल तशा धावत सुटतात. ती आणि तशा अनेक जाहिराती दाखवून झाल्या पण गाढवापुढे... ची गोष्ट चालूच आहे. या विषयाचाच कंटाळा येतो आता. मी लाल सिग्नल ला मान देऊन उभा असतो शांतपणे आणि माझ्या मागून गाड्या येतात; हा काय ****** आहे बघा ! अशा आविर्भावाने बाजूने सिग्नल तोडून निघून जातात. या अशाच लोकांना ‘रांगेचा फायदा सर्वांना’ हे शाळेत किंवा त्यांच्या आईबाबांनी शिकवलेलं नसतं, त्याना QUEUE म्हटलं की हिंदीतलं ‘क्यूं?’म्हणायचं कळतं. त्यांना BMW मधून बाहेर थुकण्यात ‘स्टेटस’ वाटतो. त्यांना अशिक्षित म्हटलेलं झोंबतं, मग ते मवाल्यासारख्या शिव्या देतात. थोडक्यात काय,

Discipline

लाटण्याची लाट

आजकाल गोष्टी लुबाडण्याचा, लाटण्याचा, हिसकावण्याचा, बळकावण्याचा ट्रेंड आहे. त्यामुळे तिकिटाच्या रांगेतील जागेपासून ते शाळा-कॉलेज मधल्या जागेपर्यंत, बस-ट्रेन मधल्या सीटपासून ते राजकारणातल्या सीट पर्यंत, अध्यक्षपदं, अ‍ॅवॉर्डस पासून ते विजेतेपदं, रिवॉर्डस पर्यंत सगळ्या गोष्टी लाटल्या जातात, बळकावल्या जातात. मग लुबाडणा-यांना विजयसुख आणि लुबाडलं गेलेल्यांना वैफल्य असं हे समीकरण पूर्ण होतं.

जमिनी, मालमत्ता, या तर लाटल्या जाणा-या गोष्टींपैकी हिट गोष्टी. आता तर त्यांच्याबरोबर देवही लाटले जातायत. त्यांच्यावर हक्क सांगितले जातायत. दैवतं लाटली जातायत, देवळं लाटली जातायत. 

‘पण असं आहे की, जमीन लुबाडता येते, जमिनीवरचं प्रेम लुबाडता येत नाही. पदं, पदव्या हिरावून घेता येतात पण त्यांच्यासाठीची पात्रता हिरावून घेता येत नाही. लोकप्रियता लाटता येते, पण लोकमान्यता लाटता येत नाही.... देव लाटता येतील; पण भक्ती लाटता येत नाही. देवत्व तर त्याहून नाही.’

वखवखलेला

पैशामुळे आणि पैशासाठी वखवखलेला समाज एक दिवस भारत देशाची अवस्था अफ्रिकन देशांसारखी करेल आणि ही गोष्ट होण्यापासून कुणीही थांबवू शकणार नाही. - अ. ज. ओक
